This workshop will benefit professional guardians in private or
public practice and family or volunteer
guardians, as well as professionals that work in a collateral capacity
with guardians. Each person will receive a
copy of NGA’s publication “The Fundamentals of Guardianship,” which the
presenters will reference throughout the
workshop.

workshop will cover guardianship practice and application of recognized
standards and then address the specifics of guardianship under
Pennsylvania law and regulations. The schedule below highlights just a

About Our Instructors
Both
Sally Hurme and Vicki Alkire
serve on the NGA Board and have conducted this workshop previously
in conjunction with NGA’s Conference on
Guardianship.
Sally Hurme,
JD
Senior Project Manager with AARP Financial Security,
Sally also writes,
lectures and researches guardianship issues.
She has participated in shaping many of the legislative reforms in guardianship procedures and
has been a leader in the certification program for guardians.
She teaches
Elder Law as an adjunct professor at George Washington University Law
School, Washington, DC.
Vicki V. Alkire, MG, CPHQ, CMCAs
Founder
and President of Viable Alternatives, Inc., Vicki
has provided advance
planning, care management, and guardianship services to Florida residents
in Sarasota and Manatee counties since 1992. Currently President
Elect of
NGA, she holds the following certifications and
licenses: Certified
Professional in Healthcare Quality; Licensed Health Care Risk Manager;
Master Guardian with the Center for Guardianship Certification; and
Care Manager Certified.
Judge Frank J. Lucchino
Our distinguished guest
speaker is Administrative Judge for the Orphans' Court Division/Court of
Common Pleas in Allegheny County, PA. Prior to being elected to the
Court,
he was a senior partner at the law firm of Grogan,
Graffam, McGinley &
Lucchino in Pittsburgh. He also served five
four-year terms as Allegheny County Controller, an elected position. The Judge’s devotion to
Western
Pennsylvania is lifelong, and his numerous achievements have spanned the
business, legal, governmental and non-profit communities.
Certificate of Attendance
for CEU's
Each person will receive a
generic certificate of attendance as part
of the Workshop packet. This certificate can be used to verify
attendance for recertification credits from the Center for
Guardianship Certification or any other agency to which you
apply on your own for some other type of recertification
credits.
Registration Fees
Registration provides admittance to the workshop and
a copy of NGA's The Fundamentals of Guardianship book (valued at
$75). Lunch is included along with two breaks. NGA Acknowledges the
unique role of family guardians and encourages their participation
in this training by offering special registration rates.
